Almost certain it was Super Mario Bros and whichever game came with ROB the robot. Gyromite? Batman on the NES is the first thing i remember being really memorable for me, although i remember Mario ofc.

Nope, it's unbelievably easy for me now. Thinking about it though it was longer than an hour, but I barely died compared to when I was younger, a couple of hours at most

First game I played was probably Pong or Space Invaders. Can't remember which. The first system I owned was an original NES with Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt. I used to love Duck Hunt, even though I was horrible at it and I still get the urge to play Super Mario Bros whenever I hear the music. I wish I hadn't told my mom to get rid of it when I went off to college...
