Hi folks

If you spot any bugs, glitches or if something just doesn't plain look right, post here!

I imagine there'll be a few of these we need to iron out early on.

Whenever I hit "reply" it always quotes the post. I'm assuming this is a glitch otherwise there'd be no need for a "quote" button aswell.
Just using this post as an example, I used reply and not quote and it's quoted anyway.

'Quote' is a toggle... it lets you select more than 1 post to quote. 'Reply' quotes the relevant post and brings up the post window directly.

If you don't want to quote anyone, you need to use the 'Fast Repy' or 'Add Reply' button.

Aye, it's quite clever. +reply quotes the post above the reply button you just pressed. If you want to quote multiple posts, though, toggle the +quote thing (even across multiple threads and pages) and then hit add reply.

Usually, fast reply suffices, though, or add reply on its own, as Dave says.

Do we want to have a thread for each bug/glitch, as that might make them easier to track and find later?

What about minor UI improvements? I've got a few to report, so feel free to shunt them into a separate thread if required.

- URL links don't seem to be highlighted: this is a link but this isn't.

- The image/url link in my sig doesn't seem to work, although I'm guessing that could just be because it's turned off for spam/security/neatness reasons.
The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas.

Aye bung em all in ere, we'll just cross em off as we sort them.

- good call on url links, Dave's in the middle of fiddling with the CSS to address it

- it's a design decision with the sigs, still debating what form sigs will take like. At the mo, BBcode is switched off for sigs.

Mah username is broke. It's broken on other boards too, so I guess it's an IPB issue rather than something you can directly fix...

Aye, I've noticed that on all recent IPB boards, where folk have long names. Strangely, some particularly long ones wrap onto the next line, but when you mouse over them they're shrunk back to one line and truncated a bit more.

It's because of that combo box arrow that appears when you mouse over, I'm thinking. Guess the only way to alter it would be to make that left column wider, but you're kinda killing the forum layout a bit then.

Sorry :P

I'll see what I can do. I can perhaps try to get it to detect how many chars there are and then apply a smaller font size on the fly. Can't see there being a problem with doing it that way.

I've noticed a slightly odd hiccup with animated avatars (like my little running MegaMan gif). Sometimes I find they're just frozen on the first image and don't move, even after refreshing the page. Close the browser, go away and come back later and it's fine.

I'm using FireFox 2.0.0.11 on Win XP SP2.

Not exactly a show stopper, but a bit odd. Could well be something as simple as my FireFox cache needs clearing or something.

I'll keep an eye on your avatar. Any other sites doing that?

I'll be honest, I can't think of anything unique to IPB that might cause that, they ought to just display like any other image.

I've not noticed it happening anywhere else. I suspect it's probably a caching thing on my PC, and it's hardly the biggest problem in the world ;)

Its probably just me, but I uploaded a picture, and it was showing as my avatar, but doesn't seem to be any more. Have I done something wrong and if so, how do I fix it?

Hmm, you've got a personal pic setup there (viewed on your profile page, click your name by the Logged in as: thing at the top of the forum) but I can't see any avatar set in the admin panel for you.

Give it another go maybe? Forum may have barfed temporarily.

Some threads I know I've read keep showing up as unread. In some cases the last post was even made by me

Some examples:

Time off work for other people's illness
Wil Wheaton's blog
Formula 1

All happen to be in Off-Topic. I've not noticed it in other areas but that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't happening elsewhere.

I definitely read all those threads on Friday, and they showed up as read at the time. When I closed my browser and came back later (on the same PC) they were marked as unread. I looked at them all again and there was definitely no change, and they showed as read afterwards. Check this morning and they're unread again.

There was a bug in the version of IPB that we were running which had affects like that, but it was apparently sorted in the last patch.

I'll check out the IPB support forums.

I've noticed Rllmuk does that too, think we'll have to hang fire and wait for updates. IPB tracks sessions in the database as I recall, so it probably isn't a local cookie issue either.

I noticed a post made by me was flagged up as unread too, barmy.

When I went to go type B) (lower case b followed by parenthesis) it makes it into a capital b and turns it into B)
