Unfortunately, despite being in my opinion the finest game of this generation, The Last Of Us has a horrible autosave bug at the moment. Users are reporting that the Autosave feature will stop functioning and disable the manual save function. This can happen after only minutes of gameplay, but without pausing the game you will not know and may lose hours of progress. If the bug has kicked in, the pause menu will display the words “Autosaving, Please wait” numerous times and half of the options (including ‘quit game’) are blocked out. You can keep playing without any saves from that point or quit the game only by pressing the home button and selecting “quit” which then restarts the console. Hit-Reset user Abberjam dropped me a line with a potential fix he’s found, which involves deleting the day-1 patch (46MB) and playing offline. Definitely not ideal but at least you know.
I’ve reached out to Naughty Dog but I’ve heard nothing back, with any luck they are hard at work on a fix. Fell free to leave any advice in the comments if you have found a way to dodge this issue. Thanks once again to Abberjam for getting in touch regarding this.
In better news, now that I’m wrapping up E3 stuff, our review should go live next week. It’s not confirmed yet, I’m still talking to a sponsor to iron out the fine details, but I *might* have an extra special giveaway to run alongside the review going live, so make sure and stay tuned!
Rejoice, Naughty Dog appear to have fixed the problem. Turns out the problem was server-side with the capture of player stats, this has now been addressed.
